Lisa Whiting
Lisa Whiting is Principal Lecturer and Professional Lead, Children’s Nursing at the University of Hertfordshire. Prior to her academic career, she gained a range of paediatric nursing clinical experience, specialising in children's critical care nursing. Since moving to an academic environment, Lisa has developed and nurtured her interest in child health promotion. She now leads the team of children's nursing lecturers at the University of Hertfordshire.
Lisa is currently undertaking a six year part-time Doctorate in Health Research [DHRes] at the University of Hertfordshire; the focus of her research (which is due for completion in 2011) is “Listening to children: Informing policy development through asset mapping of physical activity.” The participants in the study are between 8-11 years of age; Lisa is using a photo-elicitation approach to explore the physical activities that they enjoy participating in, the aim being to reveal alternative health promotion strategies.
Lisa has published a number of papers relating to both child health and research.
